![]() ![]() To his dismay, they have to fight past far more barriers than the fact that he can't sing. Mumble finds his soulmate, which should be the hard part. He went into some detail about it, but I'll go into that with the finished piece.RefugeeofTumblr Fandoms: Happy Feet (Movies) This mostly remains in the finished film, but it's been smoothed out a little around the edges.Ĭuriously, though the draft found at John Collee's website is listed as the "first draft," I was told by the film's primary storyboard artist Mark Sexton (who also did the storyboards for Fury Road) that the earliest treatment for the film, the one that WB signed off on for production, was a much, much darker work - both of Mumble's parents die and he ends up being much more of an angry, isolated weirdo as a result, the ending was much more bleak, and everything in general was a lot harsher. You can definitely see in both drafts how different in tone the film was - it's clear they were aiming for a hard PG-13, from the amount of four letter words alone. There are two screenplay drafts available online - both by George Miller and John Collee at different stages of development, but very close to the finished film, with the alternate ending still present. Erik singing an improvised opera about how heroic and brave his father is, and how he deserves better than the pitiful treatment Bryan is showing him, and it works. It gets more Heartwarming at the end when Erik joins in. It gets better when the other penguins join in. Well, here's the spaceship - but that's all I can share of the concept art that I've seen, until I finish the article. YMMV Create New The entire scene where Gloria sings 'Bridge of Light' to Erik. Then I read a few drafts of the screenplay and saw the concept art and - there it was. I took it all with a grain of salt, but started talking to people involved with the film, and - yeah, all true. It's a very heady sci-fi idea to throw into the last scene of your already-intentionally-schizophrenic and gleefully weird movie.Īlso, interestingly - I found out about all this stuff ten plus years ago on 4Chan when someone anonymously posted all this information about the production, about its difficulties and how WB kept fighting with George Miller every step of the way about how weird the film was, with workprint screenshots. I haven't seen the aliens themselves - just concept art of the spaceship and the gun and basic storyboards where they're just silhouette-shapes, but I'm still very curious. Music and motion-sensitive sound effects are in sync. The Penguin Feet let you tap out a tune just like Mumble. The Costume includes: penguin cap, wings, bow tie suit and says it is for ages 4+. I also located this Mumble Happy Feet Costume and Happy Feet Dancing Penguin Feet here on Amazon. More than that, I was told by two of the primary concept artists that they were designed to look just like the glowy Penguin God we see in the beginning of the film. Both of these are available here Happy Feet Costumes. We find out it's because.they look like penguins. They're about to harvest all of Earth's resources and destroy the planet, but decide to stop when they see the footage of the penguins dancing. One day I will.ĮDIT: The "god is an alien" alternate ending was present in every draft of the script and in the final film until a few months before release, when WB said it was "just too weird" and the ending had to be restructured - basically, at the end, after Mumble has saved the colony and the fish have returned, we pull out waaaay up into space to reveal two aliens watching the Earth through the gun-sights of a giant spaceship. I've done a ton of research on it for an article I was going to write six years ago that I still haven't finished. Happy Feet had an insanely interesting production - the "god is an alien" alternate ending and deleted scenes, the first draft which is much, much darker, the four times it changed visual aesthetics. However, by the time Happy Feet Two starts, he has all his downy feathers back. Happy Feet was in full screen & Happy Feet Two is in widescreen. I think they changed it to keep him more visually distinct, but even then we see him moulting more slowly by the end of the movie. I recorded this and I have the Happy Feet DVD. This was actually a relatively late change to the film, and we know from production stills he was supposed to fully moult when he jumped off the cliff after the fishing trawlers. ![]()
